Really isn't sporting to spring this kind of quality and imaginativeness on us without warning. I can't even guess how you come up with such inventive creature designs. Polka dots? Genius. The combination of gorgeous, Romantic landscape and whimsical alien beasts bowls me over. And the perfect use of saturation--whew, I think I might have a fainting spell.
Would you consider accepting this right arm in exchange for some sort of process walkthrough?

I've tried to find the right word of all the compliments that I know and I stay speechless - none is good enough :) I love your work

Since you ask, Ms Chicken, here's one I prepared earlier - http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?threadid=611385 - and you can even keep all your limbs ;)

Awesome, thanks for posting that link! I never poke around CGTalk (or CA) anymore, because it usually ends in shameful tears.
Seeing work like yours really makes me want to give Painter more attention, but I've gotten so used to Photoshop the brushes in the former feel so odd. :p

Youre superb skills really shine through in this painting
The colours, composition and imagination are terrific

As mentioned the sense of movement is a key factor

damn dude...

This is my favorite of all your works i think. Great work with the composition...having the dude overlap the moon was a great idea. As I think I mentioned before, your work reminds me of Michael Whelan...keep it up!

Wow! I love the landscape. The soft movements from the creatures makes it all look so real. It makes me wish these creatures excisted for real. They are so cute (and a little bit nasty). ;) Lovely job Simon. :)

Oh Wow!, Breathtaking work. The creatures look so majestic and the whole composition just flows, and the colours... just amazing stuff. I really love how you can balance colours like that and add such vibrant, saturated colours without making it look garish, just looks like a bright summers day with the light hitting the creatures beautifully.

*whistles* I tell you what simon, you taking it up a notch aren't you? I think i'm with dean on this one, i think this is your best. The colour is brilliant, the concept itself is refreshing and approached imaginatively.... a really beautiful painting man.

Saw it at CG, great work. The surreal mood is as strong as they come, so you've got my vote.

This is some really quality stuff here. The s curves of the compostion is pretty much genius. Especially the part were the curve of the airplanes flow to the curve of the main shrimp-bug-fish-creature. Also the capture of the atmosphere of a partly cloudy day is perfect.

Oh, that looks realistic! Beautiful colours on the flying creatures. And those clouds... Amazing. It is the clouds and the creatures' skin that amazes me the most. Both are wonderfully painted. The shadows on the ground and the dark clouds to the left adds even more realism to this, not only because it looks real, but because it strips the image of the 'perfect' looks often found in paintings. You know, either it is cloudy, or it is sunny. But you've added both, and that's much more natural.

Wonderful work!

Excellent work mate.

The planes do seem to lead the viewers(me) eye away from the picture though. Cause when I see a smoke trail, I want to what leaves it.

To begin with the design...
It has a traditional feel of an illustration...feels very warm. The colours are a very appealing....well balanced till the end.

there is a very strong sense of compostion here...the rhythmic lines of the kytes...the arch is not too less nor too strong..just the perfect bend to bring out the visual essence in this one...

I love your details work! I loved the way the motion is buildup...esp those flowers move as the dragon brushes against the grass...great! I have always said you have an eye for that last touch...which makes a difference of an artist to a draftsmen...

tho i didn't like the aeroplanes at the background, the reason being...i think this is a mystical subject and you have merged a sci-fi subject to it....don't want to mix two subjects with a visual artwork like this. Thats my opinion...try seeing the whole image without those planes..you will know what I mean...

Keep it up! thats all!
max points from me!
